Dental inlays and onlays are made in a dental lab based on detailed images of your tooth. Once fabricated to the exact specifications of your tooth the inlay or the only is then bonded in place. The end result is so natural looking that it will be hard to tell which tooth has been treated, even if you look closely.
The difference between an inlay and an onlay depends on how much of your tooth it needs to cover. If the material is bonded to the center of the tooth, it is considered an inlay. If it covers your whole tooth or more than one point of your tooth, it is considered an onlay.
